Structural Integrity

By Karen M. Keen | Posted 6/19/2002

The entire fragile mess that is
layer by layer
deposited, punctured,
collapsing, penetrating,
and coalescing,
becoming the hodgepodge
conglomeration of the self;
all that is capable of being brought down
just after midnight
on a Thursday.
Top sedimentation touched mud,
in the outwardly silent implosion,
naive hopelessness
jaded hopelessness,
and both were oddly comforted.
The self stands,
and the mind sleeps,
if uneasily.
