Dressed in the purest white
I was the most pious of all.
Kneeling, head bowing down
staring at the copper-speckled marble
and the glare of light in
my stained-glass eyes.
I waited for miracles--
a beam of light to guide
me to eternity.
I'm left in a holy man's dull moment.
