Rooms of Time

By Carol Bindel | Posted 4/25/2001

sometimes
the floor plan of time
lays a huge arena

of space
to leap, swing
wide, no barriers.

other time-spaces squeeze
as through a slotted spoon
long halls of allotted tasks.

some large rooms
defined by commitments,
crowd up with boxes of duty

to be sorted, disposed
before the rooms close
in disorder.

in rooms of extreme
agony or bliss
the plane shifts

to vertical; in one
extended instant we
paint memory∆s mural.
