Period of Unemployment

By L. Maynard | Posted 8/11/1999

Relaxing, yes.

Like an uncracked sidewalk.
Except increasingly your eyes
which used to dance forward and around,
are drawn downward to the clean cement
squinting and peering in search
of someone else’s lost nickel.
