Last year we threatened to disqualify the Hippo from this category, and this year, well, we're threatening to do so again. Maybe we should just send the Hippo a Best of Baltimore Hall of Fame plaque and let the rest of the bars fight among themselves for the annual honors. What can we say? The Hippo does it all: karaoke, drag-king and -queen shows, charity benefits, cabaret nights with touring theater companies, tea dances, women's nights, men's nights, theme parties, leather contests, free pool nights, vacation giveaways, happy hours, nightclub acts, employee shows, piano-bar sing-alongs, costume contests, and more. Mount Vernon's Hippo has deservedly been a cornerstone of the Baltimore gay community for 29 years. The well-trained staff work hard so that you can play hard. Isn't that endorsement enough?
