Salvation Army Thrift Store
2700 W. Patapsco Ave., (410) 644-9705
This place is huge, huge, huge. There’s a giant showroom featuring everything from furniture (not such a bargain), washers and dryers ($100), and electronics to tchotchkes, shoes, and silver tea services. There are mattresses, games, and toys, racks and racks of clothes sorted by size, jeans ($5 but often 50 percent off), and $10 men’s shoes. The store’s hat selection is not as good as Village Thrift, but with a giant lawn sale spilling outside in the yard on Saturdays, overall, Salvation Army is tops. The store is well lit, with a large parking lot (mostly full on Saturday mornings). On one recent visit we grabbed a nice pair of jeans and a silver-plated serving tray for about $6.50, total.
