Patisserie Poupon

820 E. Baltimore St., (410) 332-0390

Posted 9/21/2005

Cake—the ever disappointing dessert staple. Be it the sandpaper-dry sliver you receive at a wedding or the gooey, Crisco-y frosting vehicle served at office parties, it never fails to disappoint. That is, until Patisserie Poupon showed us such magical creations as its berry-glazed cake—moist and a hint of raspberry tartness. Their chocolate cakes retain their flavor without succumbing to the overly sweet garishness found in most supermarkets. Patisserie Poupon is the adult Wonkaland of buttery croissants and delectable tarts. We love to feel lavishly snooty when we enter this French bakery, and then ram the delicate creations into our faces with indulgent glee when we step outside.
