Best Drink Using a Salad Item

Cucumber Margarita

Holy Frijoles, 908 W. 36th. St., (410) 235-2326

Posted 9/21/2005

While many of us see herbs and vegetables and think salad, we’re fortunate that the gang at Holy Frijoles sometimes sees drink possibilities. Their Tilted Windmill, for example, contains cilantro and delivers a uniquely delicious beverage. However, they have taken the specialty cocktail to a whole new, garden-y level with the addition of the Cucumber Margarita to their repertoire. While fruit-based margaritas (mango, peach, pomegranate) can prove slightly acidic to the stomach, especially if you drink more than two in one sitting, the Cucumber Margarita manages to soothe as it intoxicates. A surprising choice for a drink ingredient makes it intriguing enough to try once, but the unique way in which this Cucumber Margarita refreshes stands up to multiple, consecutive samplings.
