Mum’s

1132 S. Hanover St., (410) 547-7415, www.mumsbaltimore.com

Parking in Federal Hill is always a bitch but even on a Friday evenings Mum’s refuses to be a headache. Cheap drinks, space at the bar, a rarely used pool table, and a stellar jukebox make Mum’s our fave low-key date destination. There are never so many bills piled up in the juke to make you wait forever for your songs, and although some judgmental types will beg to differ, the selection’s so good it’s bad. Check it: Stooges, Alicia Keys, Tom Waits, Shirley and Company, AC/DC, Beastie Boys, Portishead, Ween, P.J. Harvey, Cramps, G. Love and Special Sauce, Dead Kennedys, Bad Brains, White Stripes, Fear, Ramones, Fugazi, No Doubt, Beach Boys, Frank Sinatra, Patsy Cline, Nirvana, P-Funk, Squeeze, and Public Enemy. Almost makes the parking ticket worth it.
