We knew before this bar even opened in 2004, expanding the tiny original Holy Frijoles to more than double its size, that this would be the new hot spot. With all the cool kids moving to Hampden in droves, the Avenue was sorely in need of a cute hipster bar to kick back in. And ’Joles (as it is called by those in the know) more than stepped up to the plate, opening up a warm and comfy spot with plenty of bar space to share with diners (who no longer have to wait more than an hour for a table). Add some of the best cocktails in town (see Best Drink Using a Salad Item), and you’ve got yourself the Gen Y Club Charles. Suck down enough half-price margaritas on Mondays and you’ll think you’re the queen of the scene yourself.
