Coconuts has a breast section on their menu. Port in a Storm knows how to support a sister. And Phinns, well, did you know that Phinns is a lesbian bar? Who says there’s no place for ladies looking for ladies in this city. Oh, that’s right—we did, repeatedly. Well, things have changed—or we’ve become a bit savvier—because there are certainly a bunch of lesbian hangouts in Charm City. But we still like Gallagher’s best. They have cheap cold beer, a friendly staff, and a calendar packed with weekly events like Wednesday’s open-mic night, Thursday’s karaoke, weekend dance parties, and Sunday night football. Not to mention their monthly drag-king shows and some brilliantly bizarre crossover events with the Creative Alliance at the Patterson. They even staged a Greek tragedy at the bar. All these disparate activities make Gallagher’s the place worthy of checking out, even if you’d rather be playing softball or doing performance art.
