We have seen the pile of Andy Nelson's barbecued chicken wings disappear faster than the pile of steamed crabs at what was ostensibly a crab feast. We have seen a crew of Atkins acolytes do a dance of joy after learning AN's Memphis-style dry ribs and wings fit into their diet. We have seen a grown man's eyes light up like a child's at the sight of the famous pig atop AN's roof--he had come back for a visit after moving out-of-state a year ago--then seen him reduced nearly to tears at the first bite of his pulled-pork sandwich. Andy Nelson's is not just the area's best barbecue restaurant, by far, but also one of its best restaurants period. While we lust after the pulled pork and beef brisket most, everything at least approaches fantastic. We could write volumes about even the sides--tangy, peppery coleslaw and rich, spicy beans. Power to the pig!
