Kobe Teppan and Sushi
The Belvedere, 1023 N. Charles St., (410) 685-0780
When we first started going to Kobe several years ago, we felt like the only people who had discovered this phenomenal sushi restaurant. Even on a Friday night, we could nosh on deliciously fresh nigiri and fat fish-and-vegetable-packed maki in relative solitude. But since they started having DJs on Friday and Saturday nights, the place has definitely picked up. Those who hit Kobe late night to hear DJs spin and fill their alcohol-soaked tummies have been coming back for dinner during the week. It's the kind of thing that can spoil a secret spot by making waits too long and seats too hard to come by. But the increased business has only made Kobe better. We can still get a table without a hassle, but the service--our chief complaint in previous years--has become more efficient without hampering the quality of the food. So we still get the best sushi in town, but now we get all that yummy sushi goodness that much faster.
