Best Happy Hour
Racers Café
7732 Harford Road, Parkville, (410) 665-6000
Check the chalkboard when you walk in--the names of at least a dozen good beers are scrawled in the tic-tac-toe grid, their alcohol content noted for your convenience. Guinness Stout, Tuppers Hop-Pocket Ale, Brooklyn IPA, Sierra Nevada--the rotating cast of ales, stouts, wheat beers, and Belgian whites are enough to keep you sampling all evening. Racers serves up three 12-ounce frosty mugs for $5, a great deal that's made better when the bartender hands you an empty bowl to fill from the overflowing metal cans of pretzels, peanuts, or Utz snack mix. TV sets beam games and cable shows from all corners, and the mood is jovial. Why wouldn't you be happy when the fine happy-hour special flows every night till 8 o'clock, and all day Saturday and Sunday? With a good liquor store next door, you can bring home some of the fine brews you've just sampled.
