Maybe we should call this Best Bar to Glimpse Baltimore as the Tourists See It, or more to the point, Best Bar for Observing Drunken Conventioneers. There is nothing of the comfortable neighborhood taverns that Baltimore is so famous for here; Pisces is all about swanky surroundings, $6 drinks, and the million-dollar view of the city from atop the Hyatt Regency. But that's precisely the fun of dropping in on Pisces' bar to quaff a few. Three hundred and sixty-some days of the year we live to huddle over 60-cent drafts at our favorite obscure SoBo corner bars, but every once in a while we hanker for a change of venue. Heading downtown, Pisces is our favorite, for the incomparable night view of the city, and for the unintentionally, um, let's just say revealing views into adjacent hotel rooms. Plus, the glass elevator ride to and, especially, from the bar after a few drinks is lots of fun. And when the drunken conventioneers show up, they're often good for a few free rounds. All in all an unexpectedly good time in one of the city's least-indigenous drinkeries.
