It's still a gay man's world in the city's gay bar scene, leaving the local dyke population to bounce back and forth between two well-established venues: Mount Vernon's Coconuts Café and Gallagher's in Canton. They're both cool spots, and hot chicks abound at both. But we're just as tired of giving them this award--yawn--as women are of going to them. So this year we've decided to go off the beaten path and give our props to Mount Vernon Stable, an institution that's come a long way and, from our experience, is picking up momentum among the city's diverse lesbian community. Though not packed with girls who love girls by any means, we love seeing the grrl power growing: like the beautiful figure with the long dreadlocks and the sexy redhead we saw there recently.
