Best Place to Play Tennis

Druid Hill Park

3001 East Drive, (410) 396-6694

Posted 9/20/2006

When the weather heats up it's time to dust off those tennis whites and get dirty on the courts. While there are more than 60 open courts in the city, Druid Hill is our favorite place to hit a few balls and maybe throw a McEnroe-inspired tantrum. There are 16 courts to choose from, so you can pick sun or shade to unleash your inner Roddick or Sharapova. If you prefer to avoid daylight, the courts are lit at night, usually until 11. Just don't forget insect repellent to fight off the bugs dwelling in the trees and along the reservoir. But the biggest bonus of playing at Druid Hill's courts are the built-in ball shaggers, aka the neighborhood kids who love to watch and offer tips on your game.
