When we're looking for something interesting to read, we always make the border of Charles Village and Waverly our first stop. Sometimes we're looking for a particular thing (Gay Talese's The Kingdom and the Power, say, or Bob Dylan's Chronicles, Vol. 1), and we frequently find it somewhere in the voluminous selection. Other times we're looking for something particular but run across something else we didn't know we needed (a bizarre children's book by local artist Erin Womack, a Mary Gaitskill collection we hadn't read) often aided by a member of Normals' book-savvy, we-won't-bite staff. Sure, we go to new bookstores, too, but if they stop publishing new books tomorrow, we won't fret about replenishing the bedside stack as long as Normals is around.
