Greg's Bagels

Belvedere Square, 519 E. Belvedere Ave., (410) 323-9463

Posted 9/20/2006

We often find ourselves munching a bagel from Greg's straight up, no cream cheese, no nothing, not even sliced, just as it was when it came out of the oven. Especially when it did just come out of the oven--all warm and soft and brimming with flavor--but any old time, really. That's a testament to the handmade quality of this Belvedere Square stalwart's goods, from the mighty colossus (Greg Novik's suitably amped up version of the "everything" bagel) to the oh-so-sesame sesame, to oddball concoctions like the white chocolate and macadamia nut. (Those you sometimes have to physically prevent us from eating right out of the bag.) The fact that Greg's also offers a bewildering array of custom-smoked and/or -marinated salmon and gourmet schmears and toppings is the literal icing on a cake that works just fine without it.
