Best toast: crunchy cinnamon swirl with butter. The lines of cinnamon add just a touch of sweet, no raisins need apply. Or try one of the handmade doughnuts; the jelly-filled are buttery and dusted with grains of sugar. A breakfast of a glaze-drizzled apple Danish and a cup of coffee with cream makes you happy you got up. Or try a simple cinnamon bun--so nice you won't miss the regular overloaded frosting coat. Loaves of fresh bread, dinner rolls to rival your gram's, buttery (again, that word) croissants, and rings of caramel buns beg to be brought home. The cake case offers Boston cream, pineapple upside down, chocolate cream, and coconut-covered two-layer vanilla cakes in manageable sizes for just a couple of bucks. With big supermarkets carving out sections of their stores for cake displays, it's nice to know a neighborhood bakery is right around the corner in Hampden. Just don't ask them to cut shit--they look at you funny when you do.
