Best Crab House

Mr. Bill's Terrace Inn

200 Eastern Blvd., Essex, (410) 687-5996

Posted 9/20/2006

Mr. Bill's Terrace Inn is the crab house's Platonic ideal. Reservations democratically not accepted--just get your butt down early to get in line and have a few beers in the convivial bar. When your magic number is called, the dining room's heavenly aroma may make you feel a little drunk. Hunker down at the brown paper-covered table or booth and place your order. And then get ready for crab eating the way God intended. The crabs are big, moist, meaty, and piping hot when they arrive. These gorgeous specimens are seasoned with the establishment's own special spice mix, which is fragrant and complex in the mouth but not salty or stingy on the skin. And topping it all off, the market price is always fair and honest, and you leave stuffed, happy, and feeling like you made out like a bandit for the quality crabs your hard-earned cash just bought.
