Best Street Vendor
Paylor's
Eutaw and Preston streets
On a recent rainy afternoon, Paylor's set up a bright blue tent in front of its cart to protect not just your head but also the buns waiting to encase your hot dog lunch. Until there is a flipping falafel stand in Charm City, Paylor's is our fave. Located outside of the State Center subway stop, this street-food vendor brings a touch of the Big Apple, realizing that public transportation makes you hungry. Jars of kosher and sour pickles and pickled sour onions sit on the top shelf, and the meaty options include regular and jumbo beef or chicken dogs and Polish sausage. Paylor's completes your nosh with chips and cans of soda. What really makes it the best? Besides the fact it is family-run and getting ready to open another, they screamed it once when we drove by. They were right.
