Best Corner Bar

Parkside Restaurant

2901 E. Baltimore St., (410) 522-5893

Posted 9/20/2006

If ever there was a neighborhood longing for a clean, comfortable corner bar, it was this one. Located on the corner of Baltimore Street and Linwood Avenue, across the street from Patterson Park, the Parkside is an oasis of contemporary comfort in an area that's infested with package stores and questionable dives but lacks bright, clean spaces. Till now. Parkside is a great place to grab a beer with a buddy, have drinks and appetizers with your girlfriends, or while away a couple of hours in the evening after work while noshing on some fried calamari or a burger. Happy hour is from 5 to 7 p.m. every day ('cept for Mondays, when Parkside is closed), and you can breathe easy when you go there because it's smoke free. Only problem we have with Parkside is the damn place closes too early--10 p.m. weekdays, and 10:30 on the weekends. C'mon, guys, we've finally got the neighborhood hangout on the park we've been waiting for, can't we at least sip our drinks till 11?
