Best Gay Bar
Grand Central
Grand Central's cozy front room, lined with brick walls and huge windows facing the street, is always filled with good-looking men and the women who love them platonically. A tribute to the charm and history of Mount Vernon, it features a gorgeous wood bar lit with lovely hanging amber cones that match the amber glass domes hanging from the ceiling. Up a few stairs toward the back, you'll find pool tables and a karaoke station that on Monday and Tuesday evenings is hosted by Gregory Lattin (who's been known to sing a bastardized version of Debbie Boone's "You Light Up My Life," called "You Fucked Up My Life"). Because the gay guys like to be entertained, Grand Central also hosts other special events, including the Elektroschock dance party on Saturdays, lube wrestling generally once a month, and the Buzzer game show the first and third Wednesdays of every month. Upstairs, you'll find a warm two-room study with a couple of televisions and a whole nother bar at which to whet your whistle. And below street level is yet another bar and the hottest dance floor Baltimore has seen since 54 was playing in theaters, with lights a-go-go making it feel like the paparazzi followed you in. Whatever you want out of your evening, Grand Central has it--it also has the most well-groomed men we've seen in a while.
