Best Dance Party
Baltimore Bass Connection
Look, we hate on the whole "check out my stupid-fresh Sea and Cake/Juelz Santana blendizzle muhnizzle" post-Hollertronix bullshit steez as much as the next crank, but there's little denying the spilled PBR effect of the Baltimore Bass Connection's parties at the Ottobar. Sure the mix of trucker caps, Dirty South hip-hop, and semi-ironic freaking is "teaching the indie kids to dance" part whatever, but fuck it--anything's better than actual indie rock these days. And for those of us who think that Brit-pop and heavy metal are, like, not dance music, it's still nice to see kids getting down to stuff with beats. The crew's spent most of the last few months touring the known universe with Spank Rock, but hopefully they'll return to their residency soon.
