We truly feel for the passionate fisherman who refuses to share the location of his favorite trout streams, the pools from whence he pulls forth the trophy fish. Thrift shopping is our passion, and, as eBay mania renders local thrifts simultaneously pricier while ever more bereft of cool old stuff, this thrift lurking in Essex's Back River backwaters has been our own secret fishing spot. There's a huge inventory, constantly replenished with a higher-than-average share of gems amid the dross (vintage clothing and retro housewares are especially good here) and--so long as you avoid the laughable "collectibles" counter--lower-than-average price bloat.
