Baltimore Living
Best Fancy Restaurant
Charleston
We were going to give this category to Saffron before it up and disappeared on us, leaving us brokenhearted and empty-plated. But luckily, we were able to return to the always-open arms of Charleston. Cindy Wolf and Tony Foreman's extravagant yet inviting restaurant is still the most reliably pitch-perfect dining experience in the city. The service is always exquisite--helpful but not condescending, attentive and friendly but not intrusive. And the food--well, our mouths are watering just thinking about the shellfish bisque, cornmeal-crusted oysters, fried green tomato sandwich, and whatever else Wolf decides to lend her elegant comfort-food culinary magic to. The small-plates format allows us to sample new additions without forgoing perennial favorites. And Charleston is always there for us, assuming we have the money to spend.
