Operating out of a Cross Street Market stall, Dinner at Your Door, brainchild of Brooke Hagerty, prepares fully cooked meals for delivery or pickup six days a week. It's a simple concept executed very smartly. Dinners, consisting of an entrée and two sides packed in ready-to-heat containers, are the kind of thing you'd cook for yourself if you had time and skills. There's enough variety on the regular menu to fend off boredom and a tendency toward light and healthy fare--a citrus salmon with avocado, spicy chicken breast with basil and sweet peppers, and our favorite, an olive tapenade-stuffed pork loin. Right now, delivery (just $5) is confined to South Baltimore, Federal Hill, Otterbein, and Locust Point. Those living in other neighborhoods can pick up their meals at the market. Ever flexible, Hagerty will work with special diets and can even re-create family recipes. She offers dawn-to-dusk meal plans, too. There'll always be pizza, but this food is better for you and not much more expensive--entrées with two sides range from $11 to $20. If you ask nicely, Hagerty will fire up the recording from her winning appearance last spring on Wheel of Fortune. We told you she was smart.
