These tiny taquerias barely accommodate a line five people deep but the expansive menu spanning breakfast, lunch, dinner, and dessert could feed all of Mexicali. More than two dozen varieties of carnivorous fillings, ranging from a wickedly piquant carne asada to more daring options like lengua (tongue), buche (pig stomach), or cueritos (pickled pig skin), await stuffing into not only tacos and burritos but also soft cemita buns, ready to be washed down with hibiscus- or tamarind-flavored aguas frescas. If variety meats aren't your thing, get a flan to go--they're conveniently packaged in plastic cups that fit perfectly in your car's cupholder, so if you can't wait for your caramel fix you can shluck down dessert while driving home.
