Minato Japanese Restaurant
We've been Minato fans for a while now, and its new digs have just enhanced its appeal. We love the open airiness of the front dining room, the romance of the back dining area, and even the bamboo-style fixtures in the bathroom. The staff is ridiculously friendly and always makes us feel like part of the family. And the sushi, mmm, the sushi. The fish is always fresh. The stunt rolls are interesting without being overly complicated--the Roman roll and the red tail maki are particular favorites--and the eel is hands down our favorite in town. We only have two quibbles. One, we'd love to see a spicy scallop roll on the menu. And two, since the move Minato has stopped serving miso soup with the carry-out Minato Sushi Lunch. Bring the soup back, please. When we spend nearly $10 on lunch we expect to come away full.
