Best Place to Get Ice Cream

Broom's Bloom Dairy

1700 S. Fountain Green Road, Bel Air, (410) 399-2697, www.bbdairy.com

Posted 9/19/2007

There are a multitude of reasons to love, worship, and adore the good people at Bel Air-based Broom's Bloom Dairy--for their cave-aged artisan cheddar, their wondrous free-range eggs, or the fact that they supply the superlative Woolsey Farm lamb. But it's Broom's Bloom ice cream that stands head and shoulders above the rest, godlike in its utter perfection. While there's a variety of homemade flavors available--from butter pecan to black raspberry--it's the creamy peanut butter that sends us into near-rapture. Imagine a billion Reese's Cups melted down with gallon upon gallon of fresh cream and you're not even close. Indeed, we'd go as far to say we'd gladly crawl over the corpse of our own dead mother just to get a tub of the stuff. Seriously, it's that good. And for those of you averse to traveling out to Harford County, the Broom's Bloom people can be found every Saturday at the Waverly farmers' market. Truly, there is a god.
