Chaps Pit Beef
5801 Pulaski Highway, (410) 483-2379
There you are, Pulaski Highway. Strip club on one side, adult-video store on the other. Smoke trickles from the little white building on the corner. Right at the light, you park at the door, walk inside. Raven-purple walls, this is Baltimore. Savory blast of beef grilling over an open flame, this is the carnivore's heaven. Lots of tempting alternatives, but you go for the standard-bearer, rare (or medium rare, if you're squeamish) top-round sliced wafer-thin on a kaiser roll, wrapped in foil, and ready for a massive dollop of fresh horseradish, sliced white onions, and, oh, what'll it be today? Old Bay? Pepper? A little barbecue sauce? Some vinegar? Take a bite, you're home. You can't ever go wrong here, it seems.
