The classic Baltimore "chicken box" can be gotten on almost any corner, but our favorite comes from Chuckie's in Hollins Market. The light, crispy batter on this chicken has something extra (red pepper, maybe) and the meat beneath is tender. There's always a line at the impossibly tall green-tiled counter, but the staff is friendly, quick, and helpful. There are the usual cheap thighs, drumsticks, and wings, plus meaty breasts, but for the connoisseur there are also gizzards, livers, and hearts. From a single drumstick to a 100-piece bucket ($74 and change), Chuckie's satisfies--and for you DIY types, they even sell the batter so you can make your own at home.
