BEST BALTIMORE-THEMED CHEAP EATS: The Roost
We all know the Roost serves up some damn good lake trout. But do you know that this always busy, always delicious, oh-so-Bawlmer Reisterstown Road staple has Doris Williams lake trout, Morgan State single trout, Odell's "you'll know if you belong" fish specialty, Billie Holiday fish dinner, Kweisi Mfume seafood soul platter, and The Wire crab cake? The Roost has been faithfully feeding Charm City since 1974, serving up Ravens steak and eggs sandwiches and Oprah Winfrey scrapple sandwiches even on Sundays (but only after church). While you wait in line--and we know you will for food this good--feel free to squawk at the Sheila Dixon chicken and grits.
