Valentino's
The best sign of a good diner is its customers. Old people are a sure indicator of good food, reasonable prices, fresh coffee, and attentive service. It's no surprise that Valentino's has a seemingly steady stream of retired people manning its booths through the morning, afternoon, and well into the evening, which is our favorite time to visit. Two full cases of desserts including pies, cakes, tarts, and baklava tempt your late-night sweet tooth as you pass the counter on your way to a roomy booth with lighting just dim enough that you don't feel like you're under a spotlight. After midnight, the dining area is buzzing, making it a great place to observe the more interesting and entertaining customers who frequent this Hamilton restaurant, which is open 24 hours. Most nights, we're as likely to stop by here for the good food as we are for the people-watching.
