If you know of any good affordable genuine Italian food outside of Little Italy but inside city limits, let us know. We don't know of any, which isn't so bad, because Little Italy has lots of decent Italian fare. Chiapparelli's tops the list this year. The calamari is fresh and served with plenty of tentacles, and the tangy sauce is homemade, as are the pastas. We tried the spinach and cheese ravioli, which they gladly serve as a child's portion if you want to prime your gut for one of the meat entrées. In this case, veal saltimbocca, the Roman original, with tender veal, prosciutto and provolone in a Marsala sauce. All at prices you can afford.
