Best Dance Club

1310 Russell St., (410) 837-9110,

Posted 9/17/2008

A first time at Paradox is like stepping onto another planet. From the two distinct dance floors to the crushing sound system to the fact that almost everyone in the cavernous space is actually dancing instead of stand-around lurking, it's a bit of party heaven. Nights vary, but expect either hip-hop or club--with house music nights more infrequently (Deep Sugar)--and crowds that range from predominantly African-American teens to older house fanatics to the stray hipster. Other clubs in Baltimore can fill a dance floor up on a weekend night, but only Paradox can keep it full for some seven hours at a time, with most of those throbbing well after other clubs have since silenced and shuttered for the night.
