There are just so many DJs in Baltimore that keeping all of the names straight is tough, especially when so many wind up playing basically the same thing. When you could put down real money that someone will drop "Township Funk" or, still, "Shake It to the Ground" on any given night--without fail--things are starting to get dull. Jason Willett, True Vine owner/rubber band virtuoso/forward-thinking musician, has what has to be one of the thickest record collections in the Mid-Atlantic--actual real, physical records--and a whole lot of it is awesome weird music that you had no idea you could dance to--or, rather, awesome weird music you have no choice but to dance to. And we won't pretend to know what all of it is, but imagine things like Baghdad funk, '70s soul bands that never left their basements, and other things you really aren't going to hear anywhere else, or from anyone else.
