Sure, the best rap shows at Sonar are usually in that little club room, while some rock band headlines the big room down the hall. But that little room has become as much a haven for the city's underground hip-hop community as any venue in the city the last few years, particularly anytime DJ P-Funk or Brake Fast Records books a show. The legendary Chief Rocker Busy Bee has been the most valuable addition to the Sonar family this year, bringing friends such as KRS-One and Melle Mel through town, but even the long-running hipster dance party Taxlo brings in a local rap crew like the Get 'Em Mamis now and again.
