If you don't usually do dance, Kibism's Paraffin reminds you what you've been missing. Choreographer Naoko Maeshiba's work is beautiful, vibrant, and interesting. Even if you leave not knowing what Kibism, the name of Maeshiba's dance unit, means--and the web site explanation doesn't make it much clearer--you've witnessed its most understandable explication: Maeshiba's hypnotic, gravity defying choreography is both intense and emotionally engaging. Parrafin was her third production at Theater Project, so look out for the next one.
