The tie that binds in Sam Shepard's landscape is paranoia and the desire for revenge. But this Rep Stage production, confidently directed by Xerxes Mehta, never loses sight of the dark humor at the heart of the Shepard's larger-than-life American archetypes. Thanks to an excellent cast, this production was as much about the transformation of individual characters as it was about the larger themes of American dysfunction.
