Local filmmaker Mary Helena Clark's Magic Eye film series began last January, and with sporadic screenings between two locations, it is gaining some serious underground momentum. Magic Eye provides a venue for under-viewed film projects--Clark has plans to showcase local artists, such as Karen Yasinsky and Fred Worden--and is dedicated to importing new, limited-release video. So far, the series has showcased six artists from around the country in solo and group shows, including Bruce McClure, whose work was included in the 2002 and 2004 Whitney Biennials. We look forward to seeing more from Clark as she continues to present challenging pieces of avant-garde and expanded cinema.
