Like arabbers or screen paintings, the chicken box is one of those Baltimore things that is more interesting in theory than in practice. The formula sounds simple enough: take chicken, a roll and some fries, and stuff it in a box. But it's more difficult than you might think to find a place that does it right: quality chicken, crispy fries, and a roll that, well, isn't stale. But Sunny's Subs in North Baltimore comes pretty close to a perfect chicken box, with giant-sized chicken wings standard and the option to add other pieces. But the real charm is the spicy sweet sauce, which tastes like someone mixed Sriracha and ketchup, perfect to pour atop a mess of chicken, fries, and bread.
