Operated by a descendant of the original Maryland franchisee of the once ubiquitous Arthur Treacher's, the not-so-originally named Original Fish and Chips is one of those places that picks a thing and does it really well. Guess what it is? In addition to the standard cod, several fresh catches of the day are jacketed in a golden, glistening, crunchy shell that is just the right balance of delicate and sturdy, such that the whole thing doesn't fall apart during dipping and/or eating. The fish within is always tender. Sides are good, fried clams and shrimp very good, and the coleslaw excellent, but skip the bready crab cake.
