Best Crab Cake
Faidley Seafood
Lexington Market, 400 W. Lexington St., (410) 727-4898
This has got to be the worst category to decide. Everyone has a favorite crab cake, a passionate opinion as to why it's the best one, dammit, and an apparently maniacal drive to share this opinion with us. Well, here at Best of Baltimore central we'd like to say thank you for sharing. Now shut up and go to Faidley's. Get one of their jumbo lump cakes (they sell the cheaper backfin cakes too, but you deserve the best). Take it to one of the stand-up counters, squeeze in between the dozens of other Baltimoreans (plus the occasional well-informed tourist), and put that beauty down. Admire its lumpy surface, its golden sheen, and the apparent magic worked to keep all those hunks of crabmeat clinging together using no obvious extraneous binder ingredients. Dig in. You can thank us later.
