Yeah, yeah, yeah, we know the Hippo still offers the best variety and covers the biggest cross-section of the gay community. But give us a break, we can't pick them every year--that's the job of the Readers Poll. So we give the Hippo our respectful nods but choose the Eagle this year. We can't help it, we need a good place to wear our leather hot pants. And the Eagle is just such a place. From the leather store to the surprisingly vanilla patio to the anything-but-vanilla boardwalk, we love the Eagle. We love to see the wide range of leather lifestyles and fetishes as we puzzle over the hanky code. They need to start handing out cue cards or maybe just providing name tags with fetishes listed. Although primarily a men's bar, we do see the women striding around proving that lesbians can be perverse too. So, cheap drinks, lots of cruising, a place to shop, and a good location to wear leather. Sold.
