We like to think of our visits to the Chesapeake Wine Co. as important scientific investigations. We'd never even conceived of the notion of a flight of wine before coming here, but now we're hooked on the opportunity to sample half a dozen wines at a time. We feel like quite the oenologists, comparing the nose, acidity, and undertones of, say, Chilean cabernets or Alsatian Gewürtstraminers while noshing on fine snacks, breads from Bonaparte Bakery, international cheeses, and wicked patés. The knowledgeable bartenders/wine consultants are always friendly, never condescending, and willing to recommend vintages in our, ahem, price range. This isn't the biggest wine shop in town, nor does it offer the most extensive selection. But we sure do dig their "try before you buy" policy.
