Despite its unprepossessing, strip-mall-off-the-main-drag (Joppa Road) milieu, and its lack of a liquor license, Orchard Market & Café has won over the mouths and stomachs of metro Towsonites and those from points farther with its penchant for exotic Persian dishes awash in surprising sauces. The café's lack of pretension provides a nice counterpoint to the refinement of a yogurt/cilantro sauce that accompanies the charbroiled lamb cubes with grilled vegetables, and the tartly sweet walnut-pomegranate sauce that graces the saffron-poached Chicken Fesenjune. Desserts are equally unique: Either the rose sorbet or the saffron ice cream is a fine way to finish your culinary excursion to the northern Middle East.
