Remember the priceless scene from Pulp Fiction in which John Travolta vexes over Uma Thurman's $5 milkshake at Jackrabbit Slim's? Even though that sequence had more to do with heroin than ice cream, Tarantino struck a culinary chord: Milk shakes can be unconscionably costly, given the humble ingredients from which they're made. For a mere $2.35, the Gallery Sandwich Shoppe's 20-ounce treat is available in a variety of flavors, and it's competitive, taste-wise, with any milk shake in town. By the way, this little hole-in-the-wall won our 1994 award for "Best Unpretentious Wait Staff," and we're pleased to report that the folks there are as unpretentious as ever.
