Best Sno-ball
Snoasis
Joppa and Falls roads, Lutherville, (410) 823-1667; 30 E. Padonia Road, Timonium, (410) 666-0537.
The patrons at Snoasis knowingly smile at each other, sharing the solidarity that oppressed people always develop, and within each grin there is a tacit wink. Here the cups hold something more than a sweet treat--they hold a half-hour respite from that brutal bully, the Baltimore summer heat. From mid-April until mid-October of every year, frozen-treat seekers can indulge themselves in all the traditional sno-ball flavors--along with more nontraditional delights such as Mai Tai, Banana Banshee, Chocolate Chip Cookie, Fuzzy Navel, and our new favorite, Skylite. If you ask nicely, the Snoasis folks might let you sample one before you order. They also have diet flavors and sizes ranging from kiddie (for your not-so-hungry friends) all the way to jumbo (for your true snoball devotees). And for an extra 40 cents, they'll throw some marshmallow cream on top. After all, that's what makes 'em sno-balls.
